A weekend in this home, on this block

Saturdays start slowly at 315 Fairview Dr. The covered patio catches the morning light through the exposed beams. The Gulf breeze moves through the mature oaks in the backyard. The kettle goes on, the coffee lands on the outdoor table, and the first hour belongs to the patio. The rest belongs to the neighborhood.

A morning here

Coffee on the covered patio as the light gets honest. The kitchen is steps away through the back door, and the bar cutout from the kitchen to the dining room means you can hear the rest of the house waking up without leaving your chair. The backyard is fenced, so the dog has the run of the lawn while you finish the first cup. By eight, the block is quiet enough to hear the birds in the oaks.

An afternoon here

The middle of the day belongs to the back of the house. The covered patio with its exposed beams and corrugated roof is built for Gulf Coast summers: shaded, ventilated, and large enough for a full table and chairs. The Pickler pickleball courts sit across the street from the entrance to Edgewater Estates (not part of the subdivision), and free pickleball is available within walking distance at the Donald Snyder Center, which also has racquetball, aquatics, a walking track, basketball court, and a workout center. The beach on Beach Blvd is 5 minutes south, and the drive along the coast is worth taking slowly.

A weekend here

The Biloxi Town Green hosts community events and seasonal markets. White Pillars Restaurant on Beach Blvd — a James Beard winner and Michelin nominated restaurant — is a 10-minute drive for a proper brunch. Port City Cafe on Pass Rd is a local favorite for breakfast and lunch just minutes away, the beachfront Starbucks on Beach Blvd is great for coffee on the go, and Zoe's nearby satisfies any sweet craving. Out on the causeway, Yul's Place is a cool casual waterfront spot. Sunday tends toward the slower option: a drive along Beach Blvd, a walk on the sand, and back to the patio by late afternoon.

Through the seasons

Spring and fall are the sweet spots in Biloxi, with highs in the 70s and low humidity. Summer is hot and humid, but the covered patio and the Gulf breeze keep the outdoor spaces usable. Winter is mild, with highs in the low 60s and occasional cool snaps that make the living room fireplace earn its keep. A home that handles every season is a home you don't grow tired of.

Why the two fit together

A Gulf Coast climate rewards a covered patio that wants to be used nine months of the year. A quiet residential block rewards a backyard with mature trees and a fence. A 5-minute drive to the beach rewards a home that feels settled rather than transient. The match between this ranch and this neighborhood is the kind that usually only shows up after someone has lived in a house for a while and let it tell them what it wants.

The home and the block read better as a Saturday than as a tour. Spend an unhurried afternoon and let the rooms and the streets do the talking.
